Half Day: Rio’s Botanical Garden

ATLANTIC FOREST, Rio de Janeiro

The Rio Botanical Garden occupies an area of 137 hectares, of which 54 hectares are cultivated (the rest being natural vegetation). The cultivated area is divided into 24 rows, 40 sections and 40 garden beds containing about 8.000 species. Some ecosystems which exist in Brazil can be found in the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro in characteristic settings.
